APPLETON, Wis. — The Appleton Police Department recommends charges against an Oshkosh man who was shot by a Kaukauna police officer.
Jonathan Gonzalez is being referred to the Outagamie County District Attorney’s office for charges of Reckless Endangerment, Operating a Vehicle Without Consent, and Fleeing an Officer.
APD’s investigation found that Sgt. Michael Frank was called to a home along the 500 block of Diedrich Street on Sept. 13 on the report that a runaway and another girl from Green Bay may be in a vehicle there. Body camera footage showed Gonzalez attempted to drive out of a garage toward Frank, who fired one shot, striking Gonzalez.
The DA’s office determined Frank’s actions were justified.
