A recent survey by YouGov and Viagogo reveals that Gen Z individuals are twice as inclined as millennials to take a day off work to attend a concert.
According to Consequence, the survey, which studied 2,000 adults across the UK, was conducted online in July 2023. The results revealed that 8% of the millennials (individuals born between 1981 and 1996) out of the group that was surveyed said that they would fake being sick if it meant they could attend a concert. On the other hand, 19% of Gen Zers (individuals born between 1997 and 2012) claimed they would lie about the same thing to go to a show.
This isn’t the only thing that these Gen Zers would give up in order to see a favorite artist perform. Nearly half of them, 43% to be exact, said if it meant getting front-row seats to a dream concert, they would forgo alcohol for six months. In another survey conducted earlier this summer, per Consequence, Gen Z is apparently drinking less at concerts than other age groups – so the whole giving up alcohol thing makes sense.
Some noteworthy findings from the survey include the following: 21% of the surveyed group found their first concert more memorable than their initial kiss or landing their first job, and 20% of Gen Z respondents admitted to shedding tears at a live performance, compared to 18% of millennials and 11% of baby boomers.
