WAUPACA, Wis. — A Waupaca County man accused in a cold case double murder is found not guilty.
A jury returns the verdict against Tony Haase after four days of deliberations.
Haase had been facing two counts of first-degree murder in connection with the stabbing deaths of Tanna Togstad and Timothy Mumbrue at a Royalton home back in 1992. He was not charged until 2022 — when prosecutors say his DNA matched evidence collected at the scene.
The defense argued that another deceased family member should have been a suspect in those killings.
