DE PERE, Wis. — One person is dead following an officer-involved shooting in De Pere.
Police were called to the Perkofski Boat Launch shortly before 1 a.m. Saturday on the report of a person armed with a rifle.
The individual pulled out the firearm as officers were trying to negotiate with them, prompting officers with the De Pere and Ashwaubenon police departments to fire shots. The person was struck and died at the scene.
The involved officers have been placed on administrative leave.
The state Department of Justice is investigating the incident.
