APPLETON, Wis. — Appleton police are asking people to stop feeding wild turkeys.
The department says there has been a rise in the wild turkey population in the Memorial Park neighborhood in recent years, leading to several public safety concerns.
The birds have been spotted in busy intersections, pecking at vehicles, running into cyclists and causing traffic congestion.
Appleton city ordinance does prohibit the feeding of wild animals.
