Rockonsin 2024 has announced its 10 finalists for the Rockonsin State Finals, and among them is a band from New London High School—Baker & Boys! Congratulations to them and all the finalists! This unique competition is exclusively for Wisconsin 7th-12th grade bands, who will have the opportunity to showcase their talents on a Summerfest stage.
In total, thirty-four garage bands from across the state submitted their entries to be a part of the competition. Now, the top ten finalists will perform at the Rockonsin State Finals, from 12:45 PM to 2:45 PM, at the Summerfest Aurora Pavilion Stage. Each band will have a 20-minute showcase to impress the judges and the audience.
Baker & Boys will be competing alongside other finalists, including The Lightways (Germantown Kennedy Middle School, Sussex Hamilton High School, Brookfield East High School, Home School), Extra (Mukwonago High School), No Limit (Columbus Middle & High School, Monona Grove High School), Sacrament (Racine Lutheran High School, Muskego High School), Greater Than Human (Tony – Flambeau School District), The XI Project (Kewaskum High School), 30 Minute Difference (Chippewa Falls High School), New Normal (Necedah Queen of the Holy Rosary, Wisconsin Dells High School), and Powerhouse (Madison West High School, Madison Community Montessori, McFarland Milestone Democratic School, Home School).
All state finalist bands will receive two Shure microphones and are competing for additional prizes. The winning band will also be awarded a wireless Shure vocal microphone system, additional Summerfest showcase gigs, and recording time at Madison’s Blast House Studios. This is an incredible opportunity for these young musicians to gain exposure and take their music to the next level.
Rockonsin 2024 is a celebration of young musical talent and creativity, supported by the Nicholas Family Foundation and various sponsor partners, including MAMA (Madison Area Music Association), Tilt Media, Shure, 104.3 The Fuse, Razor 94.7/104.7, WBAY TV 2, and Summerfest. The event is produced by Dennis Graham Associates, who have dedicated themselves to providing platforms for young bands to shine.
